I told them that after their engagement session in New Orleans, we would head back to their hotel in the french quarter and finish with the boudoir portraits for another 30 minutes. We talked ideas, concept, and inspiration until we covered everything we needed. They asked for a couples boudoir session. We start throwing ideas back and forth and then they ask me “would it be possible to do a sexier session too?” Naturally I asked what they had in mind so I could make sure we’re on the same page. Their eyes lit up and immediately its set on New Orleans, where they got engaged. I booked a wedding client, got to know my couple, and as we’re talking about ideas for their engagement session, I mention that we offer destination engagement sessions. If you want to browse some of my previous boudoir sessions, you can view my portfolio here, or click here to contact me.Last month I shot my first boudoir session ever! And it just happened to be a couples boudoir session! BUT, don’t take my word for it… check out some kind words left by my past clients here. Boudoir may make you feel vulnerable, but I promise by the time you leave a session with me you will feel empowered, confident, and even more connected with your partner. (Nobody likes sexy time when you’re feeling bloated, let’s be honest).Ī: I always encourage boudoir sessions if you have never done them before. I do suggest eating light food beforehand so that you are not hungry, but also not overly full. When it comes to grooming, do whatever you and your partner are comfortable with. Q: How do I prepare for my couples boudoir session?Ī: There is no right or wrong way to come to your couples boudoir shoot with STP. If you are connecting intimately with your partner – you’re posing right! I make adjustments with posing to make sure there is optimal lighting and you’re getting the best photo possible. I provide cues and posing tips when needed to ensure quality, beautiful photos.Ī: The goal of couples boudoir is to duplicate your natural interactions with your partner. Q: What exactly is a couples boudoir session?Ī: During a couples boudoir session with Samantha Turner Photography, I strive to let a romantic organic experience happen between couples. If your partner prefers, they can also wear a sports bra under the button-up. Pair that with a button-up shirt that will coordinate with your lingerie outfit. STP Bonus Tip: Another favorite of mine – have your partner wear a pair of jeans with the boxer brief waistband pulled up slightly higher. The possibilities are endless and here at STP, we are down for it. Rock a snapback, cowboy hat, baseball cap – if that is what your partner typically wears, why not go for it? You can add accessories that make the shoot more formal for a more dressed up photo outcome, or dress it down for a more casual look. Or, fellas – you can coordinate your pocket square, tie, or cufflinks to your partner’s outfit. ![]() Tip #4: Add Accessoriesīring your favorite jewelry, and ladies – you and your partner can wear jewelry to compliment one another. For your outfits, your partner could arrive in a suit or dress – you could also dress up and this will give you both an opportunity for some fun “undressing” photos to reveal your matching undergarments. Instead, just have them coordinate and compliment each other. The matching undergarment photos turn out beautiful, but it can be a little much when you completely match your outfits. Here is where being matchy-matchy is a don’t for couples boudoir. When it comes to the undergarment photos, simplicity is key. I usually encourage white, black, and gray. And while that’s true (we’ll get to that in the next tip), here at STP we encourage bringing in a matching set of underwear or boxer briefs for you and your partner to wear. You may have heard that you shouldn’t match during a boudoir shoot. The more comfortable and at ease you feel behind the camera, the more magic will show in your photos. My number one suggestion is to wear something that makes you feel AMAZING. So, while it’s totally fun (and encouraged if you’re up for it) to spice things up and step out of your shell – it’s still important that you both feel comfortable. The top priority is that both you and your partner should feel like yourself. Couples Boudoir Clothing Guide Tip #1: Be Comfortable There are a few general rules that everyone should follow when it comes to dressing your partner for the shoot. So, I decided to make an easy reference guide to take the stress out of it for you. But, another concern that I hear often from my clients is “ What should my partner wear to our couples boudoir session?” My goal in launching this closet was to make sure that feeling like you didn’t have the right clothing or accessories wouldn’t hold clients back from having their dream boudoir session. ![]() Recently, I launched my boudoir client closet.
